My darling, who knew?

I’ve been listening to this song on repeat. It makes me wanna cry. It’s so sad.

I’ve been feeling melancholy lately. Like, just sad. Like “what’s the point of life?” Not in an “I want to jump of the 59th street bridge” way. Just in a “what’s the meaning of life” way.

You know, you hope for things: jobs, lovers, money, houses. And then you get them and what’s the point. You still feel sad and lonely. That never changes.

I need to stop listening to this song and put on some Corrine Bailey Rae, “Call me when you get this.”

What’s it really like to be loved?

I have often wondered who…who could love you the way I do?

And I just want you to know, that I’m touched deep in my soul–cause being with you…ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh.

Baby if you’re still awake: call me when you get this….

  2. What is about the winter season that brings these kinda thoughts out of people? I’ve been thinking the same thing lately. Like…is my self-induced solitude really what’s good for me? Do I need something more? If I try for it and risk the little that I have left, will it even happen, or will I be left with even more nothing?

Hm. The serenity of winter is a bitch sometimes.

and that anti-myspace rant has been written.

  7. after a harder listen to the pink song…

    that is kinda sorta painful.

I have a love/hate relationship with those songs that get you emotional. Serious love/hate. They’re a good find though.

  15. If you listen to sad music over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again…you WILL throw yourself off the 59th street bridge, or end up smoking PCP-lol. Either way, no matter how beautiful a sad song is listen with caution when feeling “melancholy.” Also winter depression is usually caused by lack of natural sunlight. Advice? Stack chips and get a villa in the Virgin Islands…

    Comment by Dynamo — December 11, 2007 @ 3:59 am

  16. You know, listening to songs like that probably isn’t helping the melancholyness.

I do the same thing too sometimes tho, don’t worry.

    Comment by amanda — December 11, 2007 @ 3:59 am

  17. LOL, Dynamo. How about a sun lamp? Will that suffice until I can buy taht villa?

    Comment by exclusivelyexclusive2 — December 11, 2007 @ 4:00 am

  18. i think pink looking all ugly like that is making you sad to be honest

like play that song on mute while looking at anthony mackie or something

  19. You’re in college, Amanda. You’re supposed to listen to sad songs and be emotional.

I had Tori Amos’ “Hey Jupiter” and “China” on repeat in college. I also lsot 20 lbs due to depression caused by a bad relationship. I don’t advise that you follow in my fooststeps on that one, though.

  20. Maybe a magnifying glass directed at your window, but make sure you have fire retardant curtains…smokey the bear wouldn’t be happy about that, whether in the hood or in the woods.

    Comment by Dynamo — December 11, 2007 @ 4:03 am

  21. Ok, MCDJ. Okay. You don’t have to listen to it, dag.

  23. Oh God! How did I get caught up in the Matrix of one Exclusively Exclusive? Oh, that’s right I lost a bet…

    Comment by Dynamo — December 11, 2007 @ 4:04 am

  24. Well, I’m in the hood, Dynamo. And you know that they will let my home burn down before they send a firetruck. So I’m gonna go for the sun lamp or maybe Hollywood tans? You can give me a gift certificate to it for x-mas.

  30. So late to the party. Always so very very late.

1st off. I think the whole “whats the point to working so friggin hard for all the trappings of life” thought pattern is going around is contagious and quite frankly, I think I might have passed it off to Mr.Dayjob, or maybe he gave it to me, and in turn the trickle down of MEH blogs came along…

and yes, It DOES have to do with lack of direct sunlight as well… S.A.D. Laugh @ it all you want but its very real.

29 just sucks. 28 was REALLY REALLY BAD for me. my 29 is just starting. I’m planning on making it a better 7 year cycle.

And as for sad songs, they make you feel so low… but in turn comfort you when you really need to hear someone else feels the same way you do.

MCDJ, stop hating on Pink. Alot of pain and angst in her (face) voice…

Super sappy sweet songs hurt me more than the jumping off 59th st Bridge variety.

My go to wallow in the mire songs…
I wanna be loved – Shirley Horn’s version
Give me a reason to love you – Portishead
    Choke- The Cardigans

    And a few others.

This blog, made me happy. Happy to know I’m not alone feeling the way I do.

    Comment by Sandy — December 11, 2007 @ 7:03 am

  31. Hi Sandy, please be comforted, as you are not alone. We’re all feeling S.A.D. But I think we’ll snap out of it soon, especially since the holidays are coming.

In the meantime, please enjoy this treat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUoBhmQpFDY
